Mud Run Rules and Regulations

DRIVER REQUIREMENTS
All contestants must be at least 16 years old, and have a valid driver's license and should be thoroughly familiar withal controls of this particular vehicle he or she is driving. The driver is responsible for being familiar with completion rules set down in this set of rules. Drivers will follow instructions of race officials at all times. Drivers and Pit Crews will refrain from consumption of alcohol until the completion of the event. ANYONE (including individual members of a pit crew) determined by the Kansas Krawlers to be intoxicated will not be allowed to participate and shall forfeit any and all winnings and entry fees. Driver is responsible for all pit crew members. Drivers and Pit Crews that have not filed signed release forms with the Kansas Krawlers will not be allowed to race until the release is on file with the secretary. Drivers will wear the required belts, harnesses, and helmets applicable to the class they are entered or they will not be allowed to compete in that class. NO REFUND OF ENTRY FEE.

ENTRY FEE, PER VEHICLE, PER CLASS $20.00

Tire size is classed by factory size stamp on sidewall.

In addition, to any equipment required to compete in a given class, all vehicles must also conform to the following requirements:

a) Must have four wheels, no dual wheels allowed, no chains on tires or tracked vehicles allowed.
b) Exhaust from engine must be directed generally up or down so as not to blow on the spectators.
c) Must have either a hard top or a roll bar.
d) Must have an engine cover; hoods may be cut for carburetor and header exhaust.
e) Tool Boxes, roll bars, tires, etc. must be securely fastened to the vehicle. No loose objects will be allowed in the beds of the trucks or drivers compartment. Nitrous bottles, fuels tanks, and batteries will be secured.
f) Must be equipped with a 3" or larger loop or clevis secured to the back of the vehicle for pull out cable attachment.
g) Steering system must be tight and free of play.
h) Must have brakes that work.
i) Must have a metal firewall between the engine and the drive compartment.

All vehicles will be inspected before the beginning of the race and periodically thereafter. Vehicle must conform to the requirements in this section or they will not race. The vehicle is subject to inspection at all times during the race. A vehicle with damaged or broken steering system or drive shafts must be repaired and inspected before it can race in later classes.

A vehicle may be entered in more than one class if it meets the rules for each class entered. Only two runs per vehicle per class will be allowed.

COMPETITION RULES

A. Staging time for vehicles at the starting line will be two minutes from the time the driver has been notified by the starter/lineup official. The exception is the vehicle that runs in last position in a class and is first vehicle to compete in the next class will have five minutes to stage.
B. The line-up roster for each class will be posted near the starting line before each class races. Drivers will be aware of which driver they will follow and be ready to stage their truck at the proper time.
C. The speed limit in the pit is 10mph! Drivers exceeding this limit will be disqualified. If you must clean out your tires, do so in an area away from spectators and other vehicles.
D. Drivers will follow all instructions of the line-up official at the staging area. A truck must be hooked up to the cable before it is pulled to the staging line. Do not move the truck to the starting line until directed to by the official. This is for the safety of the hookup man. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY TO THE HOOKUP MAN AND DISQUALIFY THE DRIVER.
E. Vehicles that require nitrous oxide equipped that are entered in class 1,2,3, and 4 must have the nitrous bottle removed from the vehicle in order to compete in those classes.
F. Vehicles will pull to the "0" stake at the direction of the lineup official. A vehicle will legally "stage" at the "0" stake.
G. The official will signal the driver to begin his run, timing does not begin until forward motion of the vehicle has begun. Any driver leaving the starting line before the official directs him to will be disqualified.
H. The started vehicle will continue through the pit until forward progress stops. When a vehicle is stopped, the flagman will signal the driver that the run is over. The driver will immediately put the vehicle in neutral. The flag is the signal to the timer that the run is over
I. Vehicle distance traveled is measured from the "0" stake to the center of the front hub.
J. Drivers will leave the vehicle in neutral gear until pulled from the pit and unhooked. Lineup official will give the signal that is clear to leave the staging area.
K. If a driver continues to spin his tires after flagged to stop, he will receive a 10' penalty from his flagged distance for that class.
L. A vehicle with any tire out of the pit will be measured from the first stake behind the point of exit. A vehicle with 4 tires outside the pit will shut down immediately or be disqualified and fined $50.00. A fine will be paid or driver will not be allowed to compete.
M. Drivers fortunate to continue past the last stake or "out of the pit" stake will immediately shut down or receive a 5 second penalty.
N. Vehicles "out of the pit" will be judged on time with the least time placed ahead of the vehicle with higher time, vehicles not leaving the pit will be placed according to time and the most distance traveled. Vehicles with the same distance will be place according to their better times.
O. Drivers running in first position (except late entries) in a class will have the option of a re-run behind the vehicle following him if he desires. Option must be decided before the vehicle is moved. Second run whether better or worse will be recorded at the official run.

ENTRY, PAYOFF AND POINTS RULES

A. All entry fees will be paid the day of the event at the registration table.
B. Entries will be made with the secretary on forms provided by the Kansas Krawlers. All information shall be filled out completely on each entry.
C. Vehicles may be entered in more than one class if it meets the rules for that class.
D. A VEHICLE MAY ENTER IN EACH CLASS ONLY TWICE. A DRIVER MAY ENTER A CLASS ONLY ONCE PER VEHICLE.
E. All entries will pay a $20.00 per class entry fee to be entered.
F. No entries after 11:00 or suffer a late entry penalty of running first in the class.
G. ONE PIT PASS FOR DRIVER OF VEHICLE, regardless of number of classes entered. Additional pit passes $5.00 each.
H. 80% of the entry fee will be paid back. Payback will be as follows, 1st place - 50%, 2nd - 20%, 3rd - 10% - A VEHICLE MAY ONLY PLACE ONCE IN EACH CLASS!
I. Race payouts will be made after each class at the announcers stand.

NEW CLASSES This YEAR!!

Class A - 4x4 up to 33” tires, tires must be state DOT approved, no tire modifications, single carb, must be street legal; tagged & registered, no super-chargers or nitrous-oxide allowed.

Class B - 4x4 up to 36.5” tires, tires must be state DOT approved, may use any engine and engine modification, EXCEPT no dual carbs, no alcohol, no nitrous, no blowers. If vehicle is not street legal, one 1/4” welded driveshaft hoop per driveshaft is req’d.

Class C - 4x4 up to 40” tires, tires must be state DOT approved, cut tires are allowed, may use any engine and engine modification, EXCEPT no alcohol, no nitrous, no blowers. If vehicle is not street legal, one 1/4” welded driveshaft hoop per driveshaft is req’d.

Class D - 4x4 up to 44” tires, may use any engine and engine modification, EXCEPT no alcohol, no nitrous, no blowers. One 1/4” welded driveshaft hoop per driveshaft is req’d.

Class E - Almost anything goes, 4x4 vehicle, No blowers. One 1/4” welded driveshaft hoop per driveshaft is req’d. Fire Suit is req’d with alcohol fuel.
